Have a 1979 528i that will run for a few minutes and the the fuel pressure will start to drop and slowly fall to 0.The fuel pump meaning the main pump at the filter will all of a sudden stop and thats when the fuel pressure drops of course and the car will suddenly start to idle rough and then die.It will restart and run a few seconds and die.If it sits for a while it will restart and run for a few and then do the same thing.I have swapped out the combo relay with another and no luck.
