If it is just a little bit once in a while and you keep your foot out of it when it does it no problem, but if you drive it with it pinging substantially, it can crack or melt a piston. Irony is, you may not need the additional octane in winter, but summers heat makes it more critical. You probably don't need 92, 89 or so should be adequate, but 87 just isn't enough if you run extra advance where the car runs good. If you set timing to specs, it probably would be, but the car will run kind of doggy, especially at low revs. On the other hand, if it is just a little tiny bit, you may just want to live with it, but be careful.
