Please let me start by expressing my thanks to all of you who expressed your very kind sympathy and good wishes to myself and my family at the recent loss of our home and other property. It has been the huge amount of support from friends that has helped us cope with our loss. Tonight we are together as a family for the first time since the fire, we have a suite in a hotel and will be there at least until mid week. Today the insurance company found a home to rent for the next 12 months in our very street....almost unbelieveable luck for us.My policy covers all accommodation until we move back into our rebuilt home...lucky because this house is a 6 bedroom mansion at $500 per week. Total strangers have been so kind by giving us all kinds of household gear.....it has been a very humbling experience for me. Our little daughter Aimee has been pretty upset with all the upheaval, quite apart from loosing the house, so we are really looking forward to moving into the rented place after a few fire related repairs have been taken care of. We should be settled by next weekend at the latest. One of the worse things is I have to go shopping!!! Bloody hate shopping! it wastes good 'playing with the cars' time.
The links to the newspaper articles are indeed about my house. The first one posted by Adam shows the garage fully ablase, the house had finished burning mostly by this time, and the pic was taken about the time we arrived on the scene. The second article(bad pic of me!) was done on Thursday morning, we had 3 national tv networks on site and 3 newspapers. We led the national news on at least 2 networks....I've had my 15 minutes of fame, and it sucks let me tell you. The media made a HUGE thing about the BMW's lost, quoting wildly different values for the cars...rather amusing really.
OK, now a question. Has anyone used a diff or gearbox out of a burned car before? I would like to try to salvage the dogleg box and LSD from the M535i.
BTW the garage fire was so hot most of the rims have simply vanished!...burned up. But the suspension of the M5 is melted all over the floor, it's going to make a really great artwork in my new garage.
I'm not around a computer much at the moment, so please be patient with me.
Once again, thank you all for your time and kind words.
Al, Donna,Aimee and baby Renee Denovan.
(Still with lots of toys to play with.)
