I have eliminated the points and replaced it with a Petronix unit, very sweet change! I used 1800 rpm per the manual. I am running an automatic and the spec's were 22BTDC at 1800+/-. I ran a post earlier because this is a CA car that has had all the emissions crap taken off and the specs for the timing are completely different, I think it's 22BTDC at 2700rpm, thereabouts. I asked the question thinking that the distributors were different between CA and the 49 state cars and thus the advance curve now may not be right.
I don't recall getting a good answer on the post so I am running as stated and tuning from there. I have installed an O2 sensor for tuning and I going to hook up a millivolt logger in place to try and adjust the mixture. Right now I am running and reading the plugs and performance. Not the best way but all I got! I am using a vacuum gauge when playing with the timing so I din't go too far. It does show up on the gauge.
Question........What RPM????
