All the 635s I have seen say "635CSi" on the back. There was a very special model introduced around '83 or so. It was the M635CSi. It has the 24-valve 3.5L twin-cam six. It's a very nice car.
Of course, anyone can buy an "M" badge and add it to the front of the 635CSi badge. So, it could be a poseur as Lars suggested.
