that's the problem. I have similar issues here and have NO electric locks or windows. When it gets cold here and I mean -20 C, everything just kinda seizes up until the interior warms up. Luckily these E12s get like AFRICA HOT! So it doesn't take too long. My fan control actually froze solid that I could not turn it on. Now when I park it overnight, I leave the fan on Med. So in the morning at least it will already be on. Even the headlight and rear defrost switches get stiff.....
When you get the chance, just take all these things apart, and like Tom said, use some good white lithium grease (sure beats the sludge in there now)

By the way, a hair dryer will work wonders if you need to unlock the frozen door or mirrors.
