Thanks to all who helped sort out my tuning problems. Your suggestions got me going in the right direction. I cring at the thought of what this would have cost if I would have brought the car into a shop. In fact I did twice! Both good import wrenches. Both failed to find the trouble. One guy even told me to replace the electronic box. The actual repair was much simpler than I imagined. I have always thought I was a fair machanic until I started fooling with this. I was looking too hard for a big problem. It started with a high idle. I replaced the aux air valve thinking mine was bad. Didn't fix the problem. I had timing issues (loose dist. moved), idle problems P.O. cranked the idle screw out about 5 turns), and cold starting problems(combination of all of the above) since I rebuilt my 3.0 and did an L-Jet conversion. 99.9% of the problems were transfered over with the settings from the previous owner of the 81 528I that I robbed the injection off of. The P.O. must have been fooling with the idle settings. Anyway I have it mostly figured out. Still noticed a little hunting even with the idle set a around 925 rpm's. But I can live with that for now.
Thanks Again,
