Here's a stumper for the collective wisdom of the group.
Last winter lenses cracked on both my high beam bulbs, probably the same time. Like when I saw it, both were cracked. Both low beams were OK.
Then in summer, same thing happened on my Chevy.
The 528 had Euro style H1/H4 headlights, and the Chevy had halogen sealed beams, 4x6 inch 4-light design (1984) All were standard wattage. And I avoid following gravel trucks with both cars, as much as possible.
Is there something different in high beam bulbs that makes them less durable? Like maybe it takes more glass to create the low beam pattern??
