Pretty much, short of an M535i, the holy grail of E12 rarity in the United States. Last I knew, there were only two of these in existence in the US, and according to things I've read in magazines (UK mag, Total BMW I think it was) and other online sources, there are only about 15-18 left in the entire WORLD!

Frank Haas probably knows more than I do (just got off the phone with him about an hour or so ago after a nice chat) so you might want to look him up for more info. According to him, there was one in the Seattle area that was hit from behind and Frank didn't know if the guy ever got it fixed because he was hit by an uninsured motorist. This was years ago he said. The other one that is more well known currently resides in Maine or New Hampshire or something and supposedly has some rust. If you search hard enough on google, you can find the original owner in the US's web page with details of the car and from the looks of it, some pics of it from an autocross. I actually emailed this guy, about two years ago to find out what happened to it and he said it was still up in the northeast but couldn't remember the guy he sold it to. He thought he was in the Maine CCA. I emailed the Maine CCA chapter officers and got some leads on the car, but never found out more.

Jerry Kingman in Los Angeles supposedly had a chance to buy it so he might know more.

Those are the only two I know of in the US. You know what you're getting into, right, in terms of expense of owning an Alpina especially a B7S Turbo??
