First off, M10 and M30 engines share the same rod. And while I'm sure it is possible to overstress it due to revs, I've heard the first thing to go is rocker arms. But even those are good for 7K as long as you don't have a really radical cam. I've taken M30 engines up to 7K even with high miles on them with no problems. I have heard of issues like broken cranks with stroker M30 engines, but at least some of that could be the torsional stresses that the M10 wouldn't have as much of.
I'm sure you can buy better rods than stock, but if you are going to drive it on the street at all, I don't think the rod is going to be a problem.
