Mine had clamps and 8mm hose. It was a PITA but had to be done. I WOULD NOT put any open flame or a heat gun too anything in the fuel system. I used a very sharp box cutter to carefully cut through the hose length wise to split it down the long axis. I cut until I was through the reinforcment braiding and stopped to ensure I didnt damage the barb. It then peeled open pretty easy.
Sorry to counter someones advice. I just figure the few extra hours it may take to be paitent may help minimize risk to yourself or the car. Have fun. Matt 76 530i/77 530ia
