I bought the nut from my local BMW dealer, it took a few days to get. I think it was $26 before the BMWCCA discount. Your dealer can easily look it up, it is applicable to the L-jetronic M30, it is called a repair nut. It is actually a nut with a slot in it for your distributor gear which will be removed from the old head.
If you have access to the motronics from the 6 series, the later FI system is better in most respects. If I had it all to do over, I would absolutely upgrade.
