Sorry, you guys beat me to the board! I crashed out for a few hours after Gavin took off to grab some winks. Too much E12 excitement for one day I guess!

Thanks for the compliments on the //M535i guys, I'm glad my efforts with this car are appreciated. Jeez, sure would be nice if it amounted to a flawless car one day!

Gavin has a really sweet 528i there. Nice Hardy and Beck suspension (lower than my damn M!) and an engine that purrs. We went for a spin after you left, Mike, nah nah nah nah naaah! Car rides real nice and his fat swaybars help in the turns, I could tell. I really dig the Nardi steering wheel.

Yep, guys, Mike's car may be scary looking, but ohmigod, it is hilarious. What a beast. There are pics in this link to what he has going on underhood and some good shots of his work to get the turbo oil line plumbed to the oil filter housing. Yep, the car has some "issues", but as we smoked the tires with three of us in the car in 2nd gear in front of the grocery store down the street, we were laughing our asses off. That and on the way back, as Mike mentioned, some guy in a rat-trap E28 535is pulled up alongside and sneered at us, then the guy in front of him slowed down to make a right . Mike cut over in front of the E28 guy and put down the power. The car shot ahead as only the Alpina E12's have that I've ridden in. But with me in the back, it was bottoming out on Mike's cut springs and the exhaust or something kept hitting the road as the car squatted and shot forward. Hilarious!

Mike said wouldn't it be funny if that E28 turned out to be someone from my28.org's message board and he posted about three screwballs in Chicago in a clapped out E12 that blew his doors off?

A fun day and a great way to welcome Spring into Chicago! The //M535i is running well, got the oil pump fixed, and we have a good group of guys in Chicago supporting E12's.

Mike and Gavin, thanks for coming out my way. Mike, sorry I didn't get back to you but I didn't get your voicemail and email until after Gavin left, snicker. Glad you came anyway!
