I do add also that the times I had cracks run, I suspect two culprits... not having the glass go in equally along the sides, producing a twisting tension....and secondly, the possibility of a slight chip on the edge from which the runs may have started. Old glass is more brittle than new glass, which is why most glass shops won't re-install used windshield, nor guarantee against breakage without a new, fresh gasket.

I spelled out my method once before, but I really encourage an extra set (or two) of hands to position the glass while you run evenly around the gasket on the install, starting from a center point on the bottom and running evenly up the sides to the top.
