What is the best BMW series for overal driving performance - can garage mechanics build hot engines? I am coming back to BMW after building a 383 Corvette with Z51 performance handling; as in no body roll, grunt to breathe acceleration and thump most commers at local track days. But the Beemer has the precision, the tightness and the size that no other car has. Sadly, with all the good of the Vette, it still lacks in critical areas. So, can you help? What series has the best performace potential. What if I want to build an engine? Is it as dirt simple and cheap as with a chev v-8? Though they are good their days are numbered. Is there a Jegs for BMW? Dare I even think this way? Seems like the US tuner market is ripe. Where are the local Alphina's?
