You sprayed oil all over things that get hot. It burnt off eventually (white smoke).
It runs hotter because the oil level has dropped, I think. Check the oil level. I doubt you've cracked anything unless it over-heated or ran completely out of oil. Should have idled really bad with the oil cap off, though - no vaccuum.
