Michael,

The boot (trunk) lock motor has a shaft that pushes up into a plastic "socket" on the actual lock mechanism. When the shaft is retracted the boot is unlocked when it is extended the boot is locked. There isn't a hook or other attachment it just sits in the plastic socket.

Test the motor using the FAQ to apply voltage to see if the motor is operational. I used a awl to remove the wires from the plastic connector then alligator clips to connect to a 12v power supply. Connect brown and blue on one terminal and white on the other to drive one direction then swap the blue and white wires to drive it the other direction. Again the FAQ is great. If not use the FAQ to drill it open and see if the points are bad or something else is wrong.
