Ok-
Well here is the update...
It runs! So in a last ditch effort i removed the distributor, re-soderd the ground wire, and nothing...then I thought I will try the plugs again..it hit and fired up...a large smoke plume from all the prior cranking.
THANKS to TONY for spending some time looking this thing over for me and helping out ! Hopefully next week I will try to get it to pass the smog check.
(any ideas on that?)
