Think 79 will do the same. Earlier cars with the hump off the tunnel for the inner mount require the use of the mounts off the e12 seats that came out of the car. I'm not so sure about the e23 and e28 seats being the same. In three e23's that I have had, the seats were somewhat bigger than the e12's and e28's I have owned. I think the mounting holes for e23 are wider apart, as the seats are wider overall.
