The ignition switch and lock are two distinctly different parts. One works the other, but not only can they be replaced individually, they even come out from opposite sides. It is possible they are both worn, but replacement of the switch will probably cure your problems. I would add a dab of grease on the end where the two meet, that alone cured my problems where I had to turn the key allllllllll the way to get it to crank.
