Had the same happen on mine became quite intermittent and it turned out to be... The thin wire that goes to the starter had corroded (oxidized) and the starter did nothing.
removed the spade terminal and cleaned up the tag on starter with little wire brush put new spade terminal on wire pushed it back on to starter and turned the key instant turn ove and start have not had problem since
