A old E12 with 16" BBS wheels, 55-series summer tires, and NON-LSD is NOT very good in the snow!

People in Charlotte, NC are freaking out!

NEW SUV's litter the ditches here due to a light dusting of snow and sleet. Idiots drive WAY too fast and WAY too close to each other wrongly assuming safety in proximity. I think it has something to due with cell phone coverage?

Unfortunately, I had to bail a buddy's two BIG dogs out of boarding since he was delayed in getting home to get them before the place closed.

Decided to take the '80 528i figuring it was the 'least' valuable BMW to sacrifice to redneck locals determined to try out their winter driving 'skills' on the rest of the free world.

Anyway, no problem (I grew up in upstate New York!) but first time I've driven a E12 in the snow. I wasn't too impressed but got around fine. Of course, lack of all-season/snow tires didn't help much!

Miss the old Audi Quattro from years back but only when it gets slippery.

Dogs were happy to be sprung so it was worth risking the E12.

They hung out in the back, drooled a lot (sorry, that was me...), and thanked me for the ride home by leaving the windows steamed up with doggie slobber and doggie hair all over the back seat.

Come to think of it, I had a few dates WAY back in High School with similar outcome.

E12 is a good 'drift' car! Very fun if you have some space to sling it around and no one to crash into.

Noticed the DOGS look in the direction of the skid with wideness of eyes and wag speed in proportion to tail-out attitude. Hmmm...
