just read this month's tech talk in roundel which is prompting me to get my e12 back on the road. it is a '77 530i and has sat approximately 1 year. the suggestions in the tech talk area are focused on significantly older, carburetor-ized, '67 2000. The steps the recommend for bringing something back are:
drain the gas and add 5 new gallons
remove valve cover and spark plugs
squirt small amount of fresh oil into spark plug holes
pour fresh oil over cam shaft
clean and re-install the spark plugs along with valve cover
check the points to make sure they have not closed
remove air cleaner and dribble fresh gas into carburetor
install a new battery
turn over the car and let it run for 5 minutes
change the oil and filter
drain the coolant.

My question is - are there any steps that this article missed and are there any helpful hints for e12's for this process?

Many thanks
