Just got done installing a ss kit. If your are lucky the tower is just loose but its unlikely. Sounds like the socket hole on the articulating joint either rotted through or at the minimum the spring clip snapped. Do pull the drive shaft, its worth the trouble if you don't want bigger trouble.
