Ones from a M30 will bolt up to any M30 engine. But only the 82 and 85 ones can be used with a motronic engine management. Kind of a trivia thing, but critical for a few. But as far as physically bolting up, yeah, no problem.
265's were also used in 82 528e's and those bellhousings wont fit. The tranny will with the right bellhousing, including the 4 speed one from an E12, but not the 528e bellhousing.
