These cars have a bad feature of leaky clutch master cylinders. The hydraulic fluid leak will come from the rubber boot linked to the clutch pedal where it goes through the firewall. It will get absorbed in the carpet and eventually eat the floor pan paint which can lead to rust. Hopefully this is not what you are seeing at the framerail underneath. Pull the carpet back to check especially around the base of the gas pedal. Mine was soaked. I tore out the carpet, padding and the asphalt like coating in the entire area to make sure I got it all clean an dry. Now I have a hefty cost for recarpeting but I know my floor pans are good. Check the rear floor area too.
