Timing or AAV, plus idle throttle position switch. If timing is advanced over stock it tends to idle fast when cold. The input from the idle side of the throttle positon switch is what causes it to cut off. Once revs drop it starts up again. The idle switch cuts of fuel (or tells the ECU to cut off fuel) over about 1300-1400 RPM.

The solution is to either time it to stock specs or pull a wire off the idle switch up on the throttle body and let it idle fast when it's cold. Either wire, you just want to break that circuit.
