Hi,

Thanks to all those who gave advice on my last posting. My main fuel pump was replaced and seems to have solved the loss of power problem. The next issue -when driving, it does surge a bit or 'hesitates' - a similar feeling to when a car is about to stall at low rpm/wrong gear, but its not and otherwise drives fine. Is it just in bad need of a tune-up, or would that be something else?

More importantly, now that I've had the car for at least a day, I was able to give it a more thorough rust inspection.

The good news:
- No rust found under doors, in trunk, or windows.
- I didn't pull the carpet all the way back behind the pedals, but from the peak I took, it looked very clean.
- DS rear foorwell: very clean
- PS rear footwell: a bit damp, and some mold under carpet (obviously a small leak) but no signs of any rust...yet.

No So Good News

- light surface rust under hood - at one seam and along the edges of some ovals & holes. (but this is me being anal and getting very close with a light)

Bad News (of course)

- Fair bit of rust under battery (just the self, it hasn't begun growing up the sides yet). I have heard that this is not uncommon and not a huge deal.

- But worse, its spread along surface of frame rail and a bit inside. I now believe this is connected to the worst rust I've found to date - some rust at the end of the frame rail under the DS seat - so perhaps the entire DS Frame rail has rust on it/in it.

- I suspect that something happened that was not taken care of - battery leak or spill that ran along and into frame rail.

- This is a huge pain, if only because all the rust up to this point was very minor and would have been very cheap to do. Now I have an 'issue'.

- I'm bringing it anyways to have a pro rust guy look at it, but any thoughts - perhaps sell it and wait for a more perfect one before I invest too much (new paint, mechanical work etc...), or just fix it.

Take Care,
Chris
