If your goal is to win the concourse, find another. If your goal is to have fun, learn a lot, and drive all over the place in a 25 year old hot rod for not very much money, relax.

From your description your car is far from structurally unsound. That happened in road salt areas of the country and usually took ten years to punch holes in the shock towers. The left front corner of the driver floor went, then the other floors, and windshield posts, etc.

Rust free cars are around, so any bucks spent to repair yours is a judgement call,...factoring in delivery, mechanical condition, color, interior shape etc.

Just my opinion: I like learning, doing, just to tell myself I did it. I drive it, park it anywhere, take care of it, but won't have a cow if it gets bumped. Thus, I'd just start working on things as time and money permit.
