mornin guys,....
i recently posted that i was going to sell my "donation" aquired 528i..........after spending a weekend with it...i may have changed my mind.lol...just means the e28 will take longer to complete.
in any event..rebuilt the shift tower and linkage this past weekend using an e36 shifter...had to bend the shifter to match the e12s, but its tight and half the throw now.
replaced the alternator, cleaned the fusebox and contacts.........now that car starts with the 1st bump of the key.
steady smooth 700 rpm idle and very responsive, think ill adjust the valves to see if i can quiet/smooth it a bit more.
went over the body while i had it on the rack.......absolutely no rust anywhere..!! i was toying with the idea of using my spare set of e28 euro bumpers on it.......i'll let everyone know how that goes.
the interior cleaned up well,..amazing what a rented rug doctor will do..........the red leather interior is in fair shape, ..but the fronts will probably be replaced with a spare set of e30 sport seats, already have adapters ready to accomodate the swap (had a local machine shop fab the adaptors up)
the sunroof is missing the drive motor...basically its the shell...............anyone have an idea if the e28 sunroof "cassette" will fit..? the etk does show some similiarities.......
spare set of b&g springs going on......the shocks are new all around and will be enhanced with the 15x7 bbs/mahle "old school" wheels i have......
sorry for rambling,.......i had planned on selling the 528 to fund my e28 project,,,,,,,,but now that ive spent some time with her..........i cant seem to let go...lol
thanks for the bandwidth...!!!
