Unless you have repaired the system I would bet it will leak out in a few weeks at most. It's not hard to charge it, but R12 is valuable these days as it's tightly regulated and I would stake money on your system not being leak proof. Back in the days when it was a dollar a can you could throw in a can or three to test it. But now those cans are worth $25 to 50 each, yes, each. You would probably be better off paying or trading or selling the cans to someone to repair your system. And if you think it doesn't leak, why does it need charging, freon isn't used up, it doesn't wear out, it does leak out however. Or, change all the hoses, evacuate the system with a vacuum pump and then you will have a fighting chance of having it last a while, like more than a couple of weeks.
Sorry I can't offer better news, but really, don't bother, you will just be pumping more chlorine atoms into the thinning ozone, believe me, it won't work.
