To me master either works or it doesn't. I only advise master cylinder replacement if:
1 car has sat for a long while (years)
2 or pedal intermittantly has large travel
3 or it leaks
Brake hoses - any that are still orginal to the e12. Special vise grips shown in brake caliper rebuild FAQ II and a little heat make it easy.
Brake lines - any rusted (see above vise grip tip)
