My mother had a heart attack last Nov and is unable to drive anymore and I was able to purchase her 1981 528i auto 157,000 mile car for the unbelievable price of $500.00. It does not idle very well when it is cold or when it has warmed up. I have been told that a malfuntioning emmisions system can cause this to find out that the car dosent appear to really have one. And what I mean by that is that there is no O2 pump, egr valve, or any of that crap. It does however have an O2 sensor although it has no catalytic converter and it has a free flow Magnaflow muffler (installed by her ex boyfriend). I would like to restore the vehicle to euro specs and am currently looking for bumpers at the moment to no avail. If anyone could give me some ideas as to what I could do to help it idle smoother, or find my euro bumpers I would like to hear from you.
