For the most part the car is running great. The in-line fuel filter is holding up nicely in the coolant return line, and the temp is normal. Gas mileage is good, power is strong, and I hope to be able to go up to Al Taylor's to get a new hood.
That's the good news.
The gas pedal broke, and now I'm having starter problems. It came to a head last night when even a 6-inch calibration wouldn't get it to turn over. The bakelite holding the leads on the solenoid is cracked (hmmm, I wonder how that happened?), and the only way to get the car started is with a big metal doohickey across the solenoid leads. At least that works. I have a couple of starters, I just have to scrounge up the time and patience to put one on. Maybe I'll just hook up a ghetto remote start until things slow down at work, and then give it the dunrite treatment.
On another positive note, I got the e23 to fire up, with starter fluid in the intake. I have a spare fuel pump, and need to get it on. Best case scenario: I get the e23 up and running, and give the e12 a complete spa treatment, and fix some of the little nagging things that have been languishing in disrepair. I'm not even going to *think* about the worst case...
No advice needed, just a sympathetic ear.
