That's a bummer, Troy, but I'm with Greg on this one. Most likely the latch itself is working to release the lid, but the rear end is pushed in against the catch in the lid so it's binding. Unlock with the key and press the button--you should be able to feel that the lock itself is releasing. Then while you hold the button in, get a big friend to yank the lid up.
Once you jerk it open, you probably won't be able to get it latched again until the rear end is straightened.
