The hole to mount the light is under the headliner on the e12 but not the wiring. I pulled the harness from an e28. There is a groove in the sound dampening material the runs across the car behind the lights. I cut the terminals off one end of the harness, pulled it across, and spliced the terminals back on.
Adding the delay was not easy. I wired the delay to work only off the driver’s door. The driver’s door triggered the delay instead to the door handle on the e28.
