Sorry I don't remember exactly where the int light delay unit is in the e28. I think it is under the dash on the drivers left side on US cars. It is not an easy fit into the e12. I used the drivers door to trigger the delay instead of the door handle like the e28 uses.
The e30 M3 and I think other e30 model cars used the mirror with maplights. It just snaps into place in the e12. Power can be routed from the sunroof if you have a powered one.
The 45 sec window lift delay is a standard "delay on release" 12vdc delay. I use that to control the power window relay. The e28 would be similar I'm sure.
