So, after trying several things. There is a wire that goes from the negative of the coil to pin #1 on ecu. It wasn't connected. As son as we jumped it, it started.

I have a 528i computer and injection harness that I don't need. And a 530i computer.
The more you take off that car the simpler you can make it. Do you have an electrical schematic? Believe it or not, a Haynes manual is pretty good stuff. Electrical doesn't get to injectors if the box isn't even ...

And no, im not getting signal to any injector.Robert Bondi wrote:I'm confused on what you have. 1979 should be a 528i; 530i up through 1978. Are you getting a signal at any injector?

Fuel injectors not getting signal
Gentlemen.
So, we have been trying to put a puzzle together. I bought this 79 530i from a guy, and it was a mess. One of the fuel lines was connected to one of the coolant ports in the head. That kind of a mess. So, we are going to use the car for a 1 time endurance race and we removed everything ...

You got sold a water pump for a 80+ car, they used a different fan clutch which used different parts attached to them. The 79/80 changeover date isn't perfect, lots of E23s seemed to use the early style in later years, but I don't think any 79s came with the late fan clutch/water pump. so can I get ...

Water pump problem
I bought a water pump for my 1979 530i. The pump is identical to the old one except for the pulley flange. The old pump has a "square" bolt pattern (to bolt on the pulley) and the center hub or nose is smaller in diameter. The new pump has a "rectangular" bolt pattern and bigger center circumference ...

thank you!!GripGreg wrote:Ron is correct. Except, don't stop there. Any time you buy another car, you/we
should ALWAYS change EVERY hose and belt along with changing ALL the fluids,
including the tranny, diff, motor, brake fluid and anti-freeze.
This tells you just how old everything is.
Welcome,,,,Greg

530i, notoriously bad engine. Thermal reactors, prehistoric emissions control, smog pump, even worse if you need a replacement, NLA. The 530i was peppier as a new car, the 528i runs circles around them for reliability. Getting the thermals and the pump off the engine is the best thing you will ever ...
