No Start

So the car was running great for a few days. Now it has a no start issue.

'81 L-Jet, manual trans

The car cranks, fires then dies. It will do this over and over.

Thanks Mike, sorry for not providing more detail, it's an '81, so L-Jet.

Fortunately it turned out the be the gas !!!!

He should be taking a test drive today!!

I sold my white car to a friend. It was a project that I was never going to have time to finish, so I'm glad it went to a good home. He's in college and very motivated to get it back on the road. He's been working on it non-stop for the last two weeks.

Sorry to interject unrelated babble, but I have always loved that 520i, you've doe a great job, color, power bulge hood, chrome side mirrors, the stance, and those wheels are sweet. It looks great cornering!!

No start - no spark

For you electrical minded fellows, a problem I'm looking for advice.

Two problems, not sure they are related, but you never know.

With the key on, I only have 0.5V at the balast resistor, 12V at the battery, the car cranks, no spark through the spark tester set at 25KV.

Where do I trace back to ...

Start with the timing, then check the fuel pressure.

Ignition Timing:
Check the Haynes manual, but I think it's 25 degrees BTDC. There is a ball on the flywheel you time to. Remove the vacuum lines from the distributor and plug everything. Set the engine at 2200 RPM and get the ball in the window ...
