Interesting indeed.

I've had the bushings at the pivot point under the brake booster fall out and allow things to get in a bind holding the throttle open.

Not a fun thing.

If you're talking about E34 non-power seats, I'm pretty sure they're out there, but I haven't seen a pair yet.

Even the low-end 525i E34 seems to have received at least a power driver's seat.

But I'm no E34 expert.

You are correct on the headroom with the E34 seats. You will lose a little. On the other hand, last year at Watkins Glen, my friend drove my car with a race helmet on. He is 6.4 and with the helmet, he was rubbing the fabric on the roof. Do your measurements but I think you will be ok. These cars ...

I had planned on doing ignition switched relays for all the power feeds. I've never found myself needing to adjust the seat with out my keys in hand, I just don't see the need for the seats to have power when the car's off.

Not really. Depending on who and how many drive the car, having them ...

Thanks Jeff.

I'm not sure if these seats are heated. They're from a 525i that's fairly low end.

There's a white E34 540i sitting beside it with gray leather, power, memory, etc. which I'm sure are heated, but the gray won't match my interior.

I had planned on doing ignition switched relays for ...

Thanks.

Thanks for the replies.

Sounds pretty straight forward.

I'll probably pick up the seats this weekend. $120 for two tan leather power seats in good shape. I'm not going to pass them up.

Seats, E34 -> E12?

It seems as though I've seen this swap done somewhere. Maybe Zane's car, or the likes.

I found a nice set of tan leather power E34 seats, and I'm considering pulling the E21 recaros out and installing the E34 seats in their place.

I'm slowly coming to the conclusion that I'm getting too old to ...

Mysterious suspension thumping identified.

I had assumed that the passenger front strut was giving up the ghost and was rattling and thumping over rough roads. But I was wrong.

I was shocked to find that one of the sway bar mounts (passenger's side) was gone. Even the little tab of metal with the slot for the piece that clamps over the bar ...

Just being pointless...

I've tried the magnetic pickup conversion kits from Hot Spark, and Pertronix, and they seem to be viable options.

However, I recently picked up an M30 electronic distributor from a Shark, which has the electronic trigger built in. I was concerned because the sixer it came off of had a mess of crap ...

One in a million failure.

Well I'm not sure if it's one in a million, however the problem with my dash illumination turned out to be... wait for it...

The headlight switch.

From what I could tell, the switch is assembled, and then the corners are crimped to hold the thing closed. Either through heavy usage, time or poor ...

The headlight switch is also a rheostat for the dash lights. Check / clean the coil windings. Or maybe just a clockwise turn will light things up....thats how I fixed what I thought was a dash light problem.

Yeah, I tried twisting, and then sprayed a little tuner spray (electrical contact ...

The central locking all works off the drivers door unit. Dash lights work off of the headlight switch. My guess is you have a ground problem somewhere.

I'm leaning toward a grounding issue with the central lock system. Time to break out the test meter. More to the point, time to take the dang ...

Let there be light... wait where'd the light go?

So I spent last weekend replacing the dash vent cables, and all the dash bulbs. Yes, even the heater controls and clock work. I should say worked.

Last night, I took a little drive in the rain and while tooling along, all the dash lights died.

To make matters worse, I spent a day installing a ...
