I am sure you mean 500 rpm, that is too low and when your AAV starts to close, it sure will stall. So you might want to adjust your idle a bit higher. Not sure but it might help. :)

Greg, all you said is true and correct, unfortunately they were talking about the thermostat itself having a hole on top and not the thermostat HOUSING that has the bleeder bolt on top.

The ICU when I opened it looks okay and I didnt notice anything like you described. What I had was really just a case of loose soldering verified by testing the continuity and as for the visual condition (resistor) there was totally nothing suspicious. There is a very high possibility there is ...

check your fuel filter it might be clogged. At first start the dirt or clog might not be compressed enough to block the passage way thus making it run for a while and die off as it gets pressure.

Hi if you come to decide and open up the ICM, you need to grind flat the 4 head of the sort of rivet on the front cover. and pry it open with a screw driver thru the side. Once opened you would have to solder off the six connectors at the bottom and take off three more screws that hold the circuit ...

Just what Brian said, it might be the ignition control module. Try opening it and check the back of the board and see if there is/ are cracks on the soldering, this would be very visible if you look close. if there is/are cracks most often it is not properly connected as it should be. I would use a ...

cylinder head interchange

Thanks, just another question, I am not familiar with the blocks whether it be a B12 or B34, but does this mean that a 1981 528i engine block is different from the 1979 528i? I have both cars and i am trying to make one out of the two. I tried reading Mike W's FAQ and I want to really make sure ...

Hey guys,

I just read this thread and my car is a family member of Brian's, that is missing randomly. I tested the AFM grounding in my 81 528i and found out that it is not grounded to the body. For the sake of testing can I directly run a wire from the batt (-) to the AFM? I just want to make sure ...
