Peter, did you go with shortened strut housings? If so, I will need to come up with a new shock solution. I don't want "moar lowz" (if that's how the kids say it). I want it to handle well and still be streetable first with aesthetics second (or third if your counting).

This is how it sits now, and ...

I think that I need to decide what my target spring rate is before I ship the Billies off. They are coming out of the car tonight or tomorrow and will be boxed up by weekends end.

I am undecided whether to go with something along the lines of 300-350lbs or 400-450lbs. The car is a daily driver and ...

Thanks, Peter, they are. My understanding, other than valving, the travel is the same it's the bump stops that differ between the two. The HDs having a much longer internal stop.

Dont quote me on that, though. ;)

Bringing this back from the dead...

Jeff, I was confused by your posts, did you finally end up with a 7 or 8" spring? To clarify further, you did not cut your strut housing?

I have a set of billies that I need to get revalved soon and I'd like to clarify.

Thanks!

Check the center support bearing on your driveshaft. If you grab the driveshaft and try to shake it side to side (with car properly supported, of course) you should see where the problem lies.

Good luck,

Sorry, Peter, I forgot to post the info. They are Bosch #0280150206.

You can usually find a few sets on eBay or a place like Jegs.

Blaise,

You can also use the FPRs off of some 6-cylinder Jags. They bolt right up and actually have an extension on the outlet (bottom) that will curve back towards the firewall in the direction of your outlet hose. I can't remeber which year at the moment, though.

The injectors are from mid-80s ...

Caliper mounting bolt spacing?

Could someone tell me the exact spacing of the front caliper mounting bolts?

Thank you,

Scott C.

Edit: I think I found it, and I believe that the spacing is 3.5".

The shock settings are the key to running coilovers. It will be a totally different car at different settings. I ran Ground Control with the Konis on my E28.

That's what I've heard. I will need to go with something other than an off the shelf component and am planning on getting some Bilsteins re ...

What's your opinion on the new spring rates?

Did they shorten your strut, or just weld the perch on?

Thanks,

Scott C.

I have been doing this same swap in my Bavaria. The Bav is a slightly different animal when it comes to boosters, but essentially the same in other regards.

My B35 is a newer model without the old bosses cast in. I initially made some flat adapter plates that turned out (or so I thought) very well ...

The injector seals are usually a stocking item at NAPA and other places, and they are quite cheap.
