Ive done it!, I did it on my racer back in 03, great upgrade, bettter brake and diff choices, !
I did not install brake cables , on mine its a race car, as a matter fact,the ebrakes are completely gone.
As far as the bushings go, they are slightly different, forgive me my memory is a bit foggy but ...

I put an e 28 528e booster on mine without any problems

I have an e 28 drive shaft in my racer right now! you will need the newer style flex disc ( which i like better anyways) and shorter bolts, and the corresponding output flange, shouldnt be a big deal

I used a pos cable out of an e 36 car , works well and has the "factory look"I also used the e 36 jumper/juntion box, mounted on the firewall, makes it easy to jump off the car and to run cables
