Early to Late Seat Interchangability?

Post by socalfiver »

I found a beautiful interior in indigo blue from a '77 530i.

Can I make the front seats fit my '80 528i seat tracks? If I buy one to try ($40), I can't return it for not fitting.

There should be a guarantee available for about $4 per item. I've used it, but you gotta ask for it.
And, if you use the tracks or brackets from the '81 they should fit.
Good luck,,,,Greg

Thanks, Gregg. My brackets and stuff are in good shape, so I should be set.

This yard doesn't offer guarantee/warranty on seats.

It'll work, but you may have to pull the bracket/platform off the seat and swap those out. The basic seat, meaning from the bottom of the upholstery up, will fit.

I got both front seats, full back seat and b-pillar covers for $120 (plus a few lenses, rear ashtrays, front door stays). The seats fit perfect once I swapped the mechanisms. The lower rear seat was rusty and rotten underneath, so I peeled the upholstery and swapped it onto my existing frame/pad. The rest of the horsehair is in great shape.

I had thought that swapping out the interior might fix my no-start problem, but it didn't.
