Looking at pics 4 and 5 it's clear that is just the pickup, not a pump. Try to get things working by replacing the suction hose from the pickup/sending unit in picture 4, 12MM I think or 1/2" if you're in a pinch, then with everything installed, pull the air boot off and with the ignition on, push in on the AFM flap. You should hear a click from the combo relay and it should be pumping, that's how it's switched.
