Bilstein rear shock assembly

Hi all, I have a set of the following shocks in my parts car:



They are in good condition, so I'm thinking of creating an adjustable height coil-over out of them.
The problem I have is the threaded sleeve won't fit over the shock with the top gland in place.

Are these removable? if so, what's the process for this?
Alternatively i'll look at getting a newer set of rear shocks where the sleeve will slide straight over the body.

Okay, i'm a goose.

While they look as though you'd need some special tool to remove them, they come off easily with a tap from a hammer.

I used the perch as a driver & it slid right off
