Hey guys. just recently my EGR service light has come on and my car has been running poorly. i went through the manual and it says the warning lamp lights up when in need of reactor service- see your BMW dealer...
Aftering inspecting the reactor, the deal or mechanic re-opens the contact in the interval switch, this extinguishes the warning light indacator.
Does anyone know how to do this? i dont wanna take it into the bmw dealership to get it serviced if i can spend a couple mins tinkering with it and get it fixed.
any help would be very appriciated. Thanks!!

Somebody who knows 530's will correct this. On 528i's there's a black plastic box under the driver foot box, inside frame. Speedo cable connects to it.
Pushing both buttons in resets them, shuts off the light. For fun, my EGR wire isn't connected, bad plug. Advice here was forget it. I have, with no performance reminders from the car at all. Go figure.
As for all things running related, Google search here through previous posts, read the FAQ's, never give up and you'll win. And grin.
There's a small box on the frame rail down by the steering box with the speedo cable running into and out of it, you get to it from underneath. There's two small buttons on it. You need a small screwdriver, they're too small for your fingers, but it almost seems like you don't need a tool. But you do, trust me. Anyway, push each of them all the way in, it's not hard, twice. Alternate, one, then the other, then back to the first. It's just a counter that counts miles, it's not monitoring anything. If you don't push them twice they seem to come back on quickly.
