would a hone job do or i am !@##$ and need to re-bore

If you can hone yourself or at no expense, then hone and recalibrate. You can always bore later.

Uh, I'm gonna say the latter, sadly.

What are your end plans ?

Rather large investment in time to get it apart, all apart, for either honing or boring. To begin the daisy chain of, " While it's this far, replace this and that.

Wild guess the enthusiasts will advise finding a 3.5, if you're thinking anything but hand sanding the lumps and pressing on. Too many good 2.8 short blocks laying around to dump money and time totally rebuilding one.
