530i front Shock Install Question

I'm putting the shock and strut assembly back together. When you dismantle it your supposed to mark the top guide support(with the 3 bolts that bolt to the body) and the coil spring for reassembly. I've lost where I marked it. What is the purpose of marking? Am I going to run into problems now when I do the install? Seems to me the top guide support will rotate to line up the holes. What am I missing here?

I think that the marking is so that the strut cap aligns up correctly. The cap has an angle from the body so that the strut aims down at the right angle. I believe that if you look at the cap position, as you are installing it, you will see what I mean.
