Koni shock question.

While assembling the front Koni (Special D shock 86 2017) insert back together with the strut I noticed that on one shock I could pull the rod up and it would stay put while I attached the top locknut. On the other shock the rod would sink back down on its own? Does this mean the shock is 'shot" or does it just need adjusting. Trying to locate the adjustment method on the Koni site but dont see anything exactly like the ones I have. I bought the shocks on Ebay. The box diagram shows an adjustment wheel but one didn't come in the box. Also there is no tab on top of the rod for a wheel to engage? Anybody worked with these shocks?

IIRC at least some Konis adjust by pushing all the way down on the shaft and then turning it. A new shock "sinking" down on it's own isn't a good sign, but perhaps if it's slow enough it might not be too big a deal. I don't think Konis are gas pressure like Bilsteins, which would indicate a failed shock if it sunk on it's own.

Thanks for the info Mike. n/m
